This week I decided to transform my metal garden cart I got from a garage sale for $1, into a salad cart! I took a burlap sack I had gotten for free from a garage sale, and lined the base.
I filled it with dirt and took arugula and hot mustard seeds I got from my local Marin Open Garden exchange (we meet at the local park on Saturday mornings with bounty from our gardens and exchange fruits, veggies, flowers & seeds).
Since my garden has lots of shade at this point in the season, I can roll the cart into the sun especially while the seeds are sprouting. There are also lots of snails in the garden and so I can re-direct them away from the salad cart! Will keep you posted!
I got the idea to create a Garden ABC picture book for my grandchild. I took photos in my garden then uploaded them to My Publisher.com and made a book. I wanted to share the photos (even though they are not in order, you’ll get the idea) …
The whole summer has passed by, and it was a gorgeous one! My burlap sack planters yielded many delicious tomatoes…will definitely do that again next summer!
A couple of weekends ago, I stopped by a garage sale in my neighborhood. They were giving away a stack of unused burlap coffee bean sacks. I took a few, not sure how I might use them. I filled them with dirt and planted tomatoes, peppers and herbs. So far, so good….
